Dr. Anahita Tikku from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (USA) has visited Geophysics Department of Geological faculty of the Kyiv University for two weeks due to Fulbright program. The purpose of her research is the comparison rifting of the Rio Grande Rise with processes in Dniprovo-Donetsk depression. She has read lectures for students and teachers on the topics "Nature disasters", "Investigation of the Rio Grande Rise in the South Atlantic Ocean", " Geodetic monitoring of active processes on volcanoes " and "Micro plate tectonics of New Guinea and co-seismic deformatiom fromfrom data GPS". Anahita has visited the Institute of geological science, where she has met with specialists in researches of water geodynamic processes. She has the meeting with Sergei Stovba. He is specialist in seismic data interpretation of Dniprovo-Donets basin. Anahita has conducted the meeting with students of SEG section. She told us about her path as geophysicist in America: from physics-bachelor, geophysics master to academic specialist from ExxonMobil.
Students and advisor of section were busy planning of Tikku's program. Docent Rostyslav Furduy has presented for her the excursion in geological museum of the faculty. Students have walked with Anahita for Evening Kyiv. Especially here showed itself: Ievgen Ustenko, Daria Mysnyk and Volodymyr Saprykin.
Section Advisor Pavlo Gryshchuk has met with Anahita Tikku on 79-th SEG Conference in H'ouston in October 2009.
