Valery Kurganskiy graduated in 1962 the Grozny Petroleum Institute. He is a specialist of petrophysics and geophysics of oil-gas reservoirs. Since 1970 he has been working at Kiev University. From 1975 to 1978 he worked as a teacher in Algeria. In 1997 he was at the EAGE conference in Geneva. Valery Kurganskiy did the report with topic "Memories of foreign academic mission: Algeria, Prague, Geneva" that accompanied by photographs (November 21, 2008).
