On Friday, March 27, 2008 at 12:20 am in auditorium (№ 301) Per Avseth's lecture are presented. He is expert on the seismic and modelling of physical media parameters. This event took place due to the program "2009 Europe Honorary Lecture" with support SEG as lecture tour on universities of Europe.
Per Avset is a geophysical adviser at Odin Petroleum (Bergen, Norway) and adjunct professor in applied geophysics at Norwegian University of Science and Technology (Trondheim, Norway), reported lectures on the theme: "Mind the Gap in Seismic Reservoir Prediction: How Rock Physics Can Bridge the Gap between Qualitative Geology and Quantitative Geophysics". The presentation has included practical examples and a North Sea case study to demonstrate a best-practice
workflow, together with limitations and pitfalls, where rock physics models are combined with well
log and prestack seismic data, sedimentologic information, inputs from basin modelling, and statistical techniques to predict reservoir geology and fluids from seismic amplitudes.
Students have handle welcome, arranging of lecturer and passed the sightseeing tours on geological museum of geological faculty and walk to evening Kyiv. Among of active students: Sergei Shavrin, Maria and Eugene Hizun Ustenko, who just returned from Prague IBA Competition.
